Turbine foundation design

KCI performed the concept design for turbine foundations up to a water depth of 60 meters. OWT type analysed is the RePower 6.0MW which is expected to be the preferred turbine for these water depths to obtain an efficient and economical design.

Concept is part of multiple tenders for detail design and fabrication

Riffgat OSS Detailed Design

In April 2011 KCI was awarded the detailed design of the OSS Riffgat (Germany) by the Joint-venture Hollandia and Strukton.

KCI is responsible for the design and integration of jacket and topside.

BSH certification will be obtained early 2012 for the fabrication to commence.

Installation is scheduled for 2012.

Hochse & He Dreith II, Germany

KCI performed the concept design for 2 jacket types for water depths from 22 to 39 meters.

After the concept design KCI optimized the jackets reducing the weight by 110 mT.

DanTysk OSS Detailed Design

In January 2011 KCI was awarded the detailed design of the OSS DanTysk (Germany) by the Joint-venture Hollandia and Strukton.

KCI is responsible for the design and integration of jacket and topside.

BSH certification will be obtained early 2012 for the fabrication to commence.

Installation is scheduled for 2013.

Dan Tysk Concept Design Evaluation

For the OWP DanTysk KCI has performed a detailed concept design evaluation between self-installing and fixed type structure. The operator at DanTsyk is Vattenfall.

Final decision was made based on a competitive bidding process. Where both designs, fixed and self-installing, were selected as last two alternatives for the client.

Meerwind OSS Foundation Design

In 2011 KCI was awarded the detailed foundation design for the Meerwind OSS for WindMW in Germany.

The foundation was based a jacket type and design was according German rules and approved by BSH.
Turbine Foundation Design evaluation

KCI performed the concept design for the Turbine foundations (5MW). Water depths range from 21 to 29 meter at the Dan Tysk OWP in Germany.

Gwynt-Y-Mor Offshore substation concept

KCI performed the concept design for the self installing substation for the Gwynt Y Mor Field.

This field has a depth up to 28 meters for which a self installing option was found to be a good fit. The proof of concept was delivered by the Oil & Gas projects at the P-Blocks in The Netherlands, where KCI installed this concept on five locations.

Gwynt-Y-Mor Installation planning and engineering
KCI performed the transport and installation engineering.

For the installation KCI developed an innovative tool (monopole guiding tool) to position and place the monopoles.

For the logistics KCI have advised the client based on our in house developed logistics tool TILT. On basis of which vessels, barges, quay side sizing, personnel, etc can be estimated based on acceptable risk levels. Risk assessments are carried out for uncertainties such as weather and availability of personnel, equipment and material.

NordSee Ost OSS Detailed Design

In 2010 KCI was awarded the detailed design of the NordSee Ost topside by Siemens

KCI s responsibility includes for the topside steel and utility design and the integration of all (HV) systems into the platform.

Installation is planned for 2012.

NordSee Ost OSS Concept design

KCI performed the concept engineering for the selfinstalling substation layout for NordSee Ost, Germany.

An evaluation was made between self installing and fixed structure. A final decision was made based on economics, vessel availability and finally client preferences to use a turbine foundation as OSS foundation.

Water depth at the location for the substation is 25 meters.

Eldepasco OSS Concept Design

KCI performed the concept foundation design and topside layout and structural for the Hollandia / Strukton Joint Venture.

The water depth ranges from 15 to 23 meters.

Butendiek OSS Concept Design

KCI performed 3 concept designs for the substation at the Butendiek windfarm.

The 3 concepts involved were a self-installing substation, based on suction anchors, a self-installing substation with a base frame and a jacket based substation.

Water depth at the site is up to 20 meters.
