Description
KCI has produced a number of prominent designs for the non-maritime sector, in particular for the Tourism and recreation industry. One of the most eye catching of which, is the Ferris wheel in Berlin (Great Berlin Wheel), at 175 meters it is the highest of its kind in Europe. The structure required many new design features, which include the drive, hydraulics and electrical equipment. These specific features have also proven suitable for use on other designs and contributed to their increased reliability.
The analyses required in order to measure wind and temperature loads, has proven eminently suitable for use in other designs. With these applications and subsequent designs, KCI has set a precedent in the complex and increasingly demanding Tourism and recreation industry.
